Happy Anniversary [info]dark_wesley!!!!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Posted over on LJ, but it has to be said here, too...

And they said it wouldn't last! ;)

Okay, prepare for sappiness ahead...

Eight years of marriage, a four year old boy, ups and downs I've lost track of -- and you are still the person I want to dance with for the rest of my life. Who would have thought I'd fall in love with you over the internet or with phone calls? Or that our first date would be watching "Casablanca" over the phone together, eating popcorn & drinking Mt. Dew? (Hey, who would have thought I'd drunkenly tell you on the phone that I loved you, either?)

You are my rock. I try my best to be there for you, but I know that you are far better than I am at taking care of me than I am of you. Still, you will always be the person I can laugh about "Dancing With the Stars", see "High School Musical", read books aloud with each other at night, play "Rock Band" on our X-Box 360, collect comics, do cracky OTPs/RPGs just because... sing, laugh, & dance the night away.

Thank you for always supporting me, even while I was going nuts about my job search. Thank you for being a good father to Wesley. Thank you for kisses during the fireworks at Disneyland. Thank you for taking me to see "Next to Normal" (a show about a dysfunctional family!) for our anniversary. *L*

This Thanksgiving? I am thankful for you.

Love,
Jo

Thoughts on New Moon

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Stuff to do today before the big trip, but first let me say... we saw New Moon! (And with a small crowd, so that was good!) Two things about it... Some random guy got into an argument with me on Twitter about it, saying it sucks even though he's never read the books and never seen the films. He said that "vampires don't sparkle" -- guess what? Vampires can be anything the author wants them to be. He went on to say that it "disrespects the mythology of the source material, and as a Buffy fan" I should realize this. (???) When I told him I was actually related to the real Count Vlad (why yes, I am, really!) he had nothing left to say to me.

If you don't like the books, fine. If you feel that Bella is a poor role-model for girls, fine. But... seriously, we're arguing over vampires? Vampires are FICTIONAL. Part of the reason I go to see the movies/read the books/etc is because I like to see the changes made in the vampire myth/universe that is set up. And to all the fanboys out there who only have one complaint ("it's a bunch of guys half-naked") -- guess what? These girls watching these films are the same ones that *you* want to dress up as Slave Leia for *you*. Turnabout is fairplay, dudes.

Ahem, that said, spoilers under the cut about what I liked and didn't like about the film!

Fairly minor spoilers, really... )

Overall, I liked it (and so did Eric, since we discussed it at length after the movie ended. *L*). And I've got 3 male friends (who are not gay and who don't have GFs), and they all want to see it! So fanboys, take a chill pill. I don't get why it's such a huge deal, but then again, a lot of people don't get why Star Wars is a huge deal for me. Heck, I don't get why LOTR is a huge deal for Eric. It's all good. :)

Oh, why not?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Pick one (or two) of my characters and I'll tell you...

→ why I decided to play this character
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs)
→ the last thing they did "off screen"
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever)

List is at [info]jomuses.

Dark Angel/SPN/SG:U

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This isn't really an SPN spoiler since we just watched last weeks' eppy. It just cracked me up. As we're watching (good eppy, BTW), Eric says, "Wow, it took Jensen Ackles acting with HIMSELF in order to show that he can really act."

I think I spit out my water I was drinking at the time. *L*

We also Netflixed (thanks to Robert because we don't have money for it) Dark Angel finally and saw the pilot. I flipped out seeing that Gaeta from BSG and Pam from True Blood were both in it. Fandom collision! (Also, does this make BSG:TNG canon since Gaeta was there? Hmm....)

Very good, and we'll keep watching. SG:U on the other hand... meh. I'm waiting for some good characters to really engage me and for them to stop writing in cliches...

How do you make Dancing With the Stars even cooler?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
You add the USC Marching Band. (GO TROJANS!)

Oh, and you toss in Selena Gomez (AKA 'Alex Russo') and Joss Stone (AKA 'Jane Seymour').

Then you make the muns for Henry Tudor & Charles Brandon verrry happy. ;)

Vamps...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I sort of want to make a game where it's all vampires from all fandoms, or OCs from those fandoms. Like Buffy, Angel, Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, etc. Or other characters from those vampire fandoms.

Like I need more to do. *L*

Ask me about a pairing/moresome I have written (or haven't and you think I should write) and I will give you five facts about them or a ficlet or a song that is CLEARLY THEIR SONG or what they order from the Chinese place down the street, etc. (if you can specify what you'd like to know, that'd be great).

Tom Colicchio FTW!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Another reason to love Top Chef:

Said Colicchio in a blog post: "I’m going to go out on a limb and say a few words about same-sex marriage: First of all, part of the problem with the issue is that it is framed by opponents as a discussion of whether gay people should get special rights. This is specious – yes, special legislation or court decisions grant them the right to wed in a particular state, however this is done to ensure that they share equal protection under the law by finally being able to avail themselves of the same rights as everyone else. They are not seeking special treatment, just equitable treatment. Second, religion has no business being part of the discussion. When a couple is wed in a house of worship, the officiant may be performing a religious rite, but as far as the law is concerned, that officiant has been authorized to perform a civil function, plain and simple. And even were same-sex marriage to be legalized by the state, no one would be holding a gun to the heads of the clergy to require them to perform a ceremony that their faith or personal creed does not condone. Just as some rabbis would not perform my marriage to my wife because I wasn’t Jewish, clergy can decline performing same-sex marriages; gay couples can either find clergy willing to officiate or can be wed in a civil setting. The idea that religious leaders are continuing to shape state law is just wrong. The institution of marriage should be available to all. The idea that you can have a life-long partner and not make decisions for them in a hospital, not share in insurance benefits, not automatically have parental rights unless you are the birth parent, is just flat-out wrong."

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who texted, Tweeted, emailed, called, posted nice things... it was all awesome. Thanks.

And LANI OMG! Thank you so much for the Anne Boleyn book I had on my wishlist (as well as the cute pirate book for Wes!) I don't know if you'll check IJ or LJ, so I'll re-post there too. But thank you; it was unexpected and appreciated.

My birthday was quiet, but nice. Thank you to everyone!

Plotful, Action-Oriented, Sexual

Plot, action, and sex, you want it all. You like your roleplays to be like Hollywood movies: flashy, glamorous and exciting with a dash of romance. There's never a dull moment in your characters' lives, and you like your events to fall into place like a well-written script, all tying in and leading up to the dramatic climax and conclusion that you have planned. Unfortunately, realism tends to get lost in your plots for the sake of timing and convenience, and you're often annoyed when the actions of other characters in your game act unpredictably and "mess up the script." But when things go your way, you (and possibly everyone else in the RP) are in for a ride.
